Poughkeepsie is a quiet midsized city in the beautiful Hudson Valley, surrounded by mountains and the Hudson River.
Poughkeepsie prides itself in Education, Medicine and Technology. It is a city of colleges, with Vassar College, Marist College, Culinary Institute and DCCC in its midst, and Bard College and SUNY in the neighboring cities. Both Vassar Hospital (which recently doubled) and Westchester Mid-Hudson Hospital are inside Poughkeepsie, with discussion of opening a medical school. IBM, Global Foundries and eMegin all have hubs in the Poughkeepsie area.
The Poughkeepsie Location is perfect for those who are looking to move to a beautiful out-of-town, while maintaining easy access to New York about 1 hour to Monsey, and slightly more than an hour to Manhattan, Albany, and Fallsburg. The Amtrak station is in the heart of Poughkeepsie, as well as the Metro-North train to Grand Central. Stewart and Westchester Airports are close, and Yeshivas Ohr Naftali and Monroe are about 45 minutes away.
Residential real estate is remarkably inexpensive, both homes and apartments, with 3 bedrooms starting at $290K, a fraction of NYC prices.
Our Shul is a well-established Orthodox Kehilla with a Mikva, Eruv, a large Beis Kenesses with many enjoyable programs and classes. Our local supermarkets carry a moderate selection of kosher meats, with delivery options from Monsey.
There are over a half dozen senior living and retirement homes in the city, with some of the best biking, boating, historic sites, and hiking just a quick hop away.
We would love to welcome you to our community!
