Welcome to Paramus! We are so happy you found us and hope to get to know you and your family better. We are a warm and welcoming modern orthodox community made up of Jews from a wide variety of backgrounds. Israelis, Ashkenazim, Sephardim, Russians, Black hatters, Chabbad, kippah srugahs, YU/Stern alumni, and even people learning Hebrew for the first time. We are proud of our shul’s diversity and everyone is welcomed and made to feel part of the community.
It’s an exciting time for us as we are on an unprecedented growth trajectory as more and more young families decide to join our community. Families that join us often cite the shul’s welcoming and informal atmosphere as key factors in their decision making, in addition many were impressed with our first class youth program with group activities every Shabbat and special activities during the holidays. Almost as equally important were the residential financial benefits Paramus offers which include on avg. much lower taxes and much larger plots of land then the surrounding communities.
Paramus is also just a beautiful town. We have some of the largest parks in Bergen County within walking distance to the shul. Our largest park actually has a Zoo that families frequent on Shabbos. Our municipal pool is very kid friendly and would rival any resort. In addition the majority of the Bergen County Yeshivas reside in our town which makes about a 5 minute commute for most kids. Our Rabbi and his family are of course also a big draw for many of our new families. Warm and welcoming are often the adjectives we hear from families after a lunch with the Rabbi.
Paramus as you can see has a lot to offer for those looking for something different then the larger neighboring communities. We invite you and your family to spend a Shabbos with us and see what we are about (E-mail us at
paramusrocks@gmail.comto schedule a shabbos).
