The Manhattan Beach community in southern Brooklyn is a wonderful place to live. It feels like living in the country, with all of the city amenities. There are modern parks where children can play, a boardwalk, the gorgeous ocean, and beautiful views of sailboats along Sheepshead Bay. We are close to shuls, many of the Brooklyn yeshivas, kosher shopping, convenient transportation and so much more. The community has an eruv.
The Mazal Day School is a blue ribbon yeshiva day school which services many of the families from Manhattan Beach. The Shulamith School for Girls (from Pre-K-12) is also located next to the synagogue. We have a brand new catering hall that is run by the generous Chasdei Lev organization that’s available for weddings and simchas. The new mikvah is one block away. Lower Manhattan is 35 minutes away by subway, and Midtown Manhattan is a 50-minute subway ride. The subway station is a five-minute walk.
One main anchor of the community is our amazing community kollel. The young rabbinic scholars of the kollel live in our community and serve the community with many shiurim, chavrusa learning. Avos U'Bbanim Saturday evening learning program, leading Shabbat meals, and year-round events. They truly have raised the bar for Torah and Judaism in our community.
Another one of the anchors for the Jewish community is the people-friendly and welcoming Manhattan Beach Jewish Center synagogue which has daily minyanim, a Shabbat children's program, classes, Shabbat dinners, lectures by guest speakers, a delicious hot Shabbat kiddush, day camps and a huge gym. The congregation is led by the warm and friendly Rabbi Akiva Eisenstadt, his wife Avigail, and their family.
Rabbi Shmuli Kosman is a kollel member and our outreach director.
