Welcome to Olney! The sidewalks are wide and the scenery is beautiful. The city ranks 7th in the "Top 11 Family-Friendly Suburbs Where Parents Will Actually Want to Live" list. There are nice parks, a low crime rate, and mild winters.
Our close proximity to Washington DC generates a great job market and makes it home to many government employees. Housing options are attractive, offering a better value than the surrounding neighborhoods. We have a well-kept eruv and mikvah, and one orthodox synagogue. Local grocery stores carry a wide variety of kosher food, and fully-kosher stores and restaurants are about a 20-minute drive away. There are two excellent schools and a yeshiva nearby. The community has a unique and charming sense of unity and the feeling of being one big family; every individual is noticed and appreciated. Shabbats are filled with learning and social opportunities, and the shul offers a range of fantastic events and programming (guest speakers, meaningful date nights, laser tag, family learning, guided cooking, and art classes, custom holiday-themed escape rooms, to name a few...!).
We look forward to welcoming you for a visit or a Shabbos.
Incentives (free membership, tuition assistance, etc.) OPTIONAL FOR ALL COMMUNITIES
