Lido Beach is one of New York's premier Modern Orthodox communities, located just 50 minutes away from midtown Manhattan by commuter rail or car. The community offers a full range of Jewish amenities, including a variety of Jewish educational and camp options for infants through high school. This walkable community is located just steps from beautiful beaches, fantastic all-new parks and the famous boardwalk. The local business district is a constant source of affordable entertainment for everyone, from the public library’s well-stocked playroom and free daily educational programs, to trendy coffee shops and bars, a weekly farmers’ market, and a variety of carnivals and craft fairs through all four seasons. For the active individual, there are many fitness options including gyms, a public pool and ice rink, two skateboarding parks, and sports league options for men, women, and children.
Lido Beach Synagogue, now in its 48th year, is the spiritual heart of the community and features daily minyanim, numerous classes, an active Sisterhood, and loads of special events including community dinners, guest speakers, chazzanim, and BBQs. The Shabbat children’s programming at Lido is uniquely engaging, promising age-appropriate activities that spark a joy for yiddishkeit and health conscious snack choices. Little ones enjoy music, movement, and puppets, while older youth are offered hands on activities that bring the Torah to life through discussion, drama, and games. During the week the shul offers a quality early childhood educational program and an after school Talmud Torah for elementary students. Led by Rabbi Shaul Rappeport and his wife, Michal, the synagogue is authentic and "heimish", and is renowned for its inclusive, welcoming, laid-back nature. The weekly hot sit-down Kiddush is an excellent chance to meet new friends and catch up with old ones. In Lido Beach, everyone is family, everyone knows and cares about each other.
