Welcome to the Orthodox Jewish community of Elmora/Elmora Hills in Elizabeth, NJ. The community offers two synagogues, with two more nearby. Orthodox synagogues in nearby Hillside, NJ are also accessible within the eruv. Our shuls offer daily and weekly learning opportunities.
The community features a Jewish day school, a shomer-shabbat JCC, kosher dining options, multiple mikvaot, and an established eruv. Elizabeth has convenient transportation links (including mass-transit) to Manhattan, Brooklyn, and major employment centers throughout New Jersey.
Education is anchored by the Jewish Educational Center (JEC), which comprises the JEC Lower School (coeducational through 2nd grade and then separate through 5th grade), and separate JEC (boys) and Bruriah (girls) middle and high schools for grades 6-12. JKHA/RKHA (Kushner) offers additional coeducational options a short drive away in Livingston, NJ. The shomer-shabbat Jewish Union Y provides daycare from infancy to preschool age, as well as a full summer camp, vacation programs, senior activities, and parent-child learning sessions during winter.
Kosher dining is available in town with our local restaurants & eateries. We also have kosher and regular supermarkets, as well as weekly kosher deliveries from other communities. Additional options are available in nearby Linden and Springfield, NJ. Teaneck eateries are a 35-45 minute drive away (traffic permitting)
Elizabeth is only a short driving distance from other Orthodox Jewish communities, such as Lakewood, Teaneck, Passaic, and Brooklyn. The Elmora Hills neighborhood offers a wide range of housing choices, from entry-level residences to spacious four- or five-bedroom homes. Starter homes with three bedrooms are generally available at approximately $600,000.
