East Meadow is a small, close-knit community with an out-of-town feel and all the benefits of being in the tri-state area. It attracts families that are eager for a warm and growth-oriented community. Our shul, Congregation Shaarei Zedek of East Meadow, is led by Rabbi Moshe and Rebbetzin Meira Winter. We have an eruv, daily minyanim, shiurim, and an active N'shei.
Our local preschool, JFI’s Children’s Learning Center, serves children ages 2-4. There is free bussing to schools in Queens and Five Towns (30-60 minutes away). East Meadow girls attend Bais Yaakov of Queens (BYQ) and boys study at Yeshiva Tiferes Moshe (Kew Gardens) or Yeshiva Ketana of Queens (Kew Gardens Hills) . High School Girls attend Shevach High School (Kew Garden Hills) or Tichon Meir Moshe (TMM) in Far Rockaway, and the boys learn at Mesivta Chofetz Chaim (Kew Gardens Hills).
Manhattan is easily accessible from 2 different LIRR stations which are within a 10-min. drive, and the LIRR is a direct 1-hour trip. Manhattan is 1-1/2-hour drive by car.
Housing is affordable with a 3-4 BR house (with a basement) starting at $600K and a front and backyard.
Kosher food is available in West Hempstead, which is 15-20 minutes away and has multiple kosher eateries and a Mikvah. Delivery from Queens kosher grocery is available. Shoprite, Stop & Shop, Costco and BJs sell kosher products, including baked goods, frozen items, Cholov Yisrael cheeses, meats and chicken.
